Phuck The Norm!

One of my biggest struggles as a photographer and *cough, cough* Artist is this undying need to conform to what others think. Phuck them! The other day I was listening to a “photographer” podcast and they mentioned “sharp eyes” and all this other crap about how technology is making everyone “PHOTOGRAPHERS”. No, what it makes is Guys With Camera’s! What makes a photographer, and for that matter a model, is their unique perspective of the world.

I am blind as an effing bat, have NO clue about what I am going to shoot until minute before a shoot and it works for me. I like it, no I LOVE IT and usually the models I work with LOVE IT too! And who really gives a rat’s you know what about anything else. I really do find that creativity stalls when you try to conform to others perspectives.

Is that enough bitching? *lol* Photography is my escape from the world, my solace. The models are my creative collaboration who energize the shoot. The tunes get cranked and for me at least, what I can describe as only as MAGIC happens. It truly is one of the most incredible experiences I know. So in my opinion, PHUCK THE NORM!!!

Just finished an update to the Canada’s Sexiest Tattoo Models page. Was hoping to get to the lingerie and sports pages as well, but they will have to wait for another day. Definitely have to reflect on what an honor it is to work with models like Hardcore Sexy Lydia Blue and of course Sexy Diva Brittany Tamara among others. They truly are amazZING and definitely form the core of Canada’s Sexiest Tattoo Models!!!

I think the best part of the whole N49 project is that it really is a team effort and everyone plays to each others strengths. I think the images (collaboration) is really coming into it’s own and the diversity, range and variety is truly incredible.

I love models like Calgary Promotional Model Dianne Jean because she delivers amazing images with a fashion edge and a scent of mystery. She makes me want to brand her as the “hidden treasure” that she is. Whether it is a standard typical model shoot or a more sensual glamour shoot, you just want to see more of Dianne.

Dianne was actually one of the lead models going into Canada’s Sexiest Models. On the plus side, she set the bar high and that hinted to me that this site was going to be amazing. On the downside, due to her setting the bar the site has evolved more so I am definitely looking forward to shooting her again and seeing more of her magic. Dianne is one of those models who is simply beautiful and classy but brings a real edge to her work. I just love it!

With lots of shoots in the can and lots of new models coming online, it is time to get Down and Dirty and really start pushing out some images! The funniest part of all of this, besides getting to work with totally amazing models, is that are really pushing for variety and diversity. There are just so many flavors on N49 it really is incredible and knowing what is coming out soon just makes it even more exciting.


And the models are really pushing themselves and stretching their talents to find a whole new range of places to go. Shoots are really becoming no holds barred, GO FOR IT! The models are really bringing their own flair and personality to the images and it is making a world of difference. These shots are from Calgary Promotional Model Tanya Dawn’s first photo shoot! I am not sure what others think, but for me, it was/is simply, WOW!!!! Seriously, I feel so honored when I get to shoot images like this with models like Tanya.

So you will be seeing a lot more images per post now and a lot more new models gracing the pages as we continue to evolve and grow.

Personally I like things over the top! It’s the artist in me!!! lol For those that do not know, I swore I would NEVER call myself an artist but it appears that NEVER does not necessarily mean FOREVER. It takes time to do things differently, but hopefully the end results make the extra investment worth while. Here are some of the things I am currently working on.

I have added models twitter to Michal Grace and Alycia Charchuk’s profiles on N49promtoionalmodels. It is just one more step in the evolution process to insure that I am giving models means of having direct connection to their fan base.

Took the extra step of adding Total Transformation Training To Alycia’s profile as well giving her more exposure and marketing for her business. I have a few more ideas that I want to develop with this that I have to discuss with Alycia. It is an excellent example towards the direction I am heading. Yes, there is a bit more to N49 than just showing sexy models.

At present, as far as images go, Sexy Diva Brittany Tamara has the most images followed by new sensation Tattoo Model Lydia Blue. The Over The Top advantage is that you will see a merging of sorts of profiles as my model profile template continues to evolve. Already I think the models working with me are receiving a huge advantage and of course I have the advantage of working with some exceptional and serious models. Gotta love that!

And of course I am developing my covers! Of course, it shows my exceptional talent as a graphic designer or something1 lol I actually really enjoy this kind of stuff, did some with FAME and this is definitely an extension, but of course this is leading to a something bigger; when isn’t it with me? The nice thing even at present is the models get a lot more exposure than most covers so that is sweet and it is only growing.

So just to toot my own horn a bit (yes Britt, I said toot! lol) I am building the entire trollans experience as an Over The Top experience. To me the photo shoot is the beginning of the experience and things build from there. I just implemented a new delivery system of images that is simply amazing! How I wish I had it during my fitness days with FAME. I routinely shoot over 60,000 images and with the new system, I could have them delivered within a week. We just ran it for a print test and it worked amazing. So the trollans experience is definitely geared towards encompassing pretty much everything a model requires and more. And with the new models coming online and joining the established ones, what can I say except that N49 will definitely feature Canada’s Sexiest Models and Most Successful Model. I am really going to start promoting the Promotional Models aspect.

Getting Exposure is important! You always hear models saying they “want to get their face out there” and the truth be told, it is the same for photographers, we want to get our work out there and get recognized. I would have to say that the vast majority of the work I have done and do is targeted towards this and it is all based on my experience and experiences. Instead of complaining about how the industry is changing, I do my best to embrace. And while most praise themselves and their work in an attempt to put themselves on a pedestal, I try to bring out more work and feature the work of others (models so far) in more a team atmosphere. If there are two things I have definitely learned, one, is that you cannot do it all yourself and the second is, you cannot depend on others for the most part. I always love Zig Ziglar’s saying “when a job is once begun, you leave it not until it’s done. Whether matters great or small, do it well or not at all.”

When it comes to getting exposure for my work and the models I work with is that I can do better myself if I focus on what I am doing and my work. I still love helping out others and find it is much easier to do with a focused approach on my work. Instead of putting all my attention and effort into getting into magazines, I promote my work and allow magazines to license images. It is a pretty big shift to accomplish, but if I quote Zig again, “by the yard it is hard, but by the inch, it is a cinch.” So I break things down to small goals and chip away at things and they really do accumulate to produce bigger results.

Anyone who has put together a website should realize that it is a lot more work than they anticipated and that the results (traffic) is much harder to obtain then they first thought. “Just put it out there for the world to see” definitely does not attract much attention. That is why you will see so many people attempting to utilize social media and networking to increase their traffic. It is usually a pretty good sign that they are not getting the results they want. I am not saying facebook and twitter are not important, but I am saying that my traffic went way up when I stopped giving facebook and twitter so much attention. In fact, I cut way back on all third party sites because the reality is that it usually ends up you do a lot more to increase their traffic then you do your own. (Just as a side note, same thing with third party plug-ins that promise you the world).

I did two fundamental shifts to right the ship so to speak. Shift one, I let the models worry about the social networking aspect of things. In reality, it is what they do or should be doing and most likely enjoy doing. Shift two, I focus on the details. Those little annoying things that most people just totally ignore I make sure I do. There are no shortcuts or easy way of doing things other than rolling up ones sleeves and doing them. The nice part is that it is something I do, it is something I should do and it is something I actually enjoy doing.

It creates the perfect team atmosphere with the added benefit that those that are serious will rise to the top. Every model dreams of making it but very few really have the commitment and/or dedication to really push for it. And those that do have the inspiration and dedication to really go for it, usually make the same mistakes as those before them wasting their time and money, which is where I come in and what I do. Thereby creating an excellent team environment. Of course the biggest trick of all is working with people who of course want to do good for themselves, but who also at least realize who everyone contributes to the whole as well.

When we run the numbers it is really quite stunning what we are accomplishing with N49promotionalmodels.com. In normal evolution terms it receives 200-2000 hits daily. With a bit of influence and involvement it eclipse’s 5,000 unique hits per day. Of course there are those who have “all the solutions” to what I should be doing, like affiliate links and stuff and how to get more traffic, but in most cases I am doing better than they are in that regards already. And let’s not forget that there are some tracking things that show me that I get 4 times the numbers, but they are not real numbers. I like to go with the lowest numbers as they are more legitimate towards what is really happening.

With the roll out of my new projects and their expansion the site will be increasing even more. And like a true team, I keep the models independent, so that any contact with them in regards to shoots, bookings, etc. the links go directly to the models, not me or via me. If they have their own personal site, I link to that, I do not link to third party sites unless it is facebook, twitter or the sorts. I look at the whole N49 project as an empowering project that simply works and works better and better as it gains a stronger foothold.

Yes, getting exposure is important! You just have to make sure that YOU are actual getting the exposure and not giving it to someone else.

As N49 continues to grow and evolve, I am seeing things in a whole new light and hopefully much better light. The one big thing is that I am inching more towards my own style that I want to shoot and some of the new lighting schemes I am using are incredible. I have to credit a lot to the amazing models that I am working with. We are being much more creative at shoots and it has been a lot of fun.

Completed a lot of shoot this last little while so I have tons of new content to get up. Going to ease back a bit on new models because the ones I am working with are totally amazing and we have definitely left many things on the table and different directions we want to explore. So stay tuned, lots more stuff coming as soon as possible.

Calgary Fashion Model Olga Mikha

Shut down the recent Stephanie Ford Cosplay Shoot a little early. Truth be told, it was an awesome shoot that I totally loved. We were just test shooting and it was during that shoot that I think I got hooked on Stephanie’s vision of cosplay. Cosplay by the way is a term from costumes and role playing. In this image Stephanie wears the Rogue outfit from X-Men. Not going to go into too many details here because there should be more on N49 soon for those truly interested. Just wanted to share a couple of test shots here.

The overall goal of Canada’s Sexiest Models is to continually push the bar higher and higher and with the inclusion of Sexy Bikini Model Alycia Charchuk of Calgary, AB, the bar just went way up! What I really love about Alycias is that she is definitely gorgeous, but also totally beautiful. I did not get the chance at this shoot, but she is definitely on the top of my list to do a beauty shoot with! (Hint, hint Alycia.)

And even though Alycia is an accomplished fitness athlete in figure, fitness model and swimsuit divisions (no doubt) she is also a Fitness Trainer! I don’t know about you, but I cannot think of anything more motivating to get to the gym then a gorgeous trainer like Alycia. Alycia has competed in FAME and WBFF competitions and is definitely one of Canada’s Sexiest Models and totally one of Canada’s Sexiest Swimsuit Models. And after getting a peak at her bikini collection, all I can say is I cannot wait to shoot a heck of a lot more with Sexy Bikini Model Alycia Charchuk … and beauty too.
